Ferrol, Spain 2026

The educational mobility program Erasmus+ (KA121 – course training / job shadowing) has been completed with absolute success. A group of 19 teachers and education executives from Primary and Secondary Education participated under the accreditation of the Directorate of Secondary Education (DDE) of Boeotia. The mobility took place in the city of Ferrol, in the Region of Galicia, Spain, under the core thematic axis: “AI for teaching management / AI creativity and inclusive learning”.

The Greek delegation received a particularly warm and hospitable welcome at the CFR Ferrol training center from the director and his associates, a result of the long-standing and excellent cooperative relationship with the DDE of Boeotia.

During the five-day program, the participants had the opportunity to delve deeper into modern technological challenges and experience innovative educational structures:

  • Training in Artificial Intelligence (AI): The educators were informed about the operation of Large Language Models (LLMs), the current legal framework, and key AI tools. Through presentations by academics from the University of A Coruna and practical workshops, they experimented with applications such as ChatGPT, Gemini, and Notebook LM. Furthermore, they practiced “training” software to recognize and distinguish images.
  • Experiential Workshops & Podcast Creation: At the CFR Ferrol facilities, the teachers utilized AI tools to write scripts and, using modern professional equipment (microphones, mixers, computers), created their own educational podcasts. This hands-on experience built expertise ready to be transferred back to their respective schools.
  • Job Shadowing in School Units: The delegation visited school units in the region, including a model inclusive primary school on the outskirts of Ferrol, the coastal CPI de Atios in Valdoviño, as well as the Francisco Lopez Estrada and A Barqueira primary schools. The educators visited classrooms, conversed with their Spanish peers, and observed the implementation of innovative programs, such as Galicia’s “Polos Creativos”, which aims to familiarize students with robotics, programming, and problem-solving through AI. At the same time, they witnessed the successful operation of creative projects (book clubs, school radio, 3D printing, gardening) even in small, multi-ethnic school units operating in a calm and friendly environment.
  • Cultural Exchanges: The itinerary included cultural visits to A Coruna and the UNESCO World Heritage site, the Tower of Hercules, as well as a walking tour in Santiago de Compostela, the capital of Galicia, featuring its imposing Cathedral.

This mobility offered participants invaluable insights into the educational system of Spain and Galicia, both at an instructional and administrative level. The DDE of Boeotia steadily continues to invest in international outreach and the digital transformation of its schools, enhancing the skills of its teaching staff for the benefit of the students.
