The students and teachers have returned from Gothenburg, Sweden, with absolute success and their luggage packed with unique experiences from an extraordinary journey of knowledge. In this joint educational mobility, implemented within the framework of the European Erasmus+ program titled “Environment and Sustainability”, four school units from our region joined forces: the 9th Primary School of Livadia, the 5th Primary School of Livadia, the Primary School of Agios Georgios, and the 1st Primary School of Schimatari.
During their stay in Sweden, the students were hosted by the international school Internationella Engelska Skolan Johanneberg. Through a rich, well-organized, and highly engaging program of daily activities, interactive lessons, and experiential workshops, the children had the opportunity to develop and strengthen key 21st-century skills, such as teamwork, creativity, and critical thinking.
The mobility program encompassed a wide range of educational and environmental actions:
- School Partnership and Exchange: Our students collaborated closely with the host school, experienced the Swedish educational system, and participated in joint learning and environmental activities alongside their Swedish peers.
- Experiential Learning at Universeum: The delegation visited the famous Universeum science center, where the children explored interactive science exhibits, an indoor rainforest, and rich marine ecosystems, beautifully blending theory with hands-on experience.
- Environmental Education at the Botanical Garden: In the Gothenburg Botanical Garden, a site of high aesthetic and ecological value, the participants observed local and global biodiversity firsthand and delved into environmental protection issues.
- Cultural Acquaintance with the City: Targeted educational tours were conducted throughout Gothenburg, allowing the students to discover the history, unique architecture, and daily life of the local Swedish society.
The administrations and educators of the four schools express their warmest thanks to Internationella Engelska Skolan Johanneberg, as well as to the exceptional Swedish colleagues Tasos Vary and Marie Elf, for their warm welcome, flawless hospitality, and the high-quality education they provided to the Greek delegation.
This mobility has opened new horizons for our students, proving the power of European cooperation in education. The school communities of the Primary Schools of Livadia, Agios Georgios, and Schimatari returned home full of inspiration, innovative ideas, and a strong, shared vision for shaping a more sustainable and green future in their schools.
