A highly successful educational mobility program under the European Erasmus+ program and the Accreditation of the Directorate of Secondary Education (DDE) of Boeotia was recently completed. A joint delegation of students and teachers from four secondary schools in our region—Aliartos Junior High School, Akrefnio Junior High School with High School Classes, Pyli Junior High School with High School Classes, and Kyriaki Junior High School with High School Classes—traveled to Plovdiv, Bulgaria, for a unique educational and cultural experience.
During the mobility, the students were hosted by the innovative SU “Sveti Sveti Kiril I Metodii”, a recognized Google Reference School for Primary and Secondary Education. Greek students and teachers participated in a wide range of educational and cultural activities, collaborated closely with their Bulgarian peers, and experienced the history and culture of the region firsthand.
The core program included job shadowing and the observation of digitally supported lessons, with a strong focus on inclusion techniques. These were implemented through active collaborative activities, differentiated instruction, and the exchange of best pedagogical practices among the participating educators. This hands-on experience substantially contributed to the development of communication skills, teamwork, and intercultural understanding, while simultaneously enhancing the pedagogical training of the teaching staff.
In addition to the academic program, the itinerary featured rich cultural and educational excursions:
- A comprehensive guided tour of the historic Old Town of Plovdiv.
- A one-day excursion and guided tour of the capital city, Sofia.
- A cultural visit to the historic Orthodox Bachkovo Monastery of the Mother of God.
This visit proved to be an invaluable experience for all participants, strengthening their European consciousness and opening new horizons for future learning and international cooperation.
